Terms & Policies
Purpose of This Website
This website shares information about lactation support services provided by an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) in private practice in New York State. By using this site, you agree to the terms and policies below. These guidelines help ensure clarity, safety, and a supportiveexperience for all families.
Educational Use Only — Not Medical Advice
All content on this website—including articles, videos, blog posts, and downloadable materials—is for general educational purposes only. It is not medical advice and should not be used to diagnose or treat any medical condition.
As an IBCLC, I provide lactation care within my professional scope, which includes:
- Assessing feeding challenges
- Offering evidence‑based lactation education
- Supporting breastfeeding, pumping, and bottle‑feeding
- Creating individualized feeding plans
I do not diagnose medical conditions, prescribe medications, or replace the care of licensed healthcare providers.
Families should always follow the guidance of their pediatrician, obstetrician, midwife, or other licensed healthcare professionals. If you have concerns about illness, pain, weight gain, dehydration, or any medical condition, please seek medical attention promptly.
New York State Regulations
This practice operates in accordance with New York State guidelines for lactation consultants and unlicensed health professionals. This includes:
- Practicing within the IBCLC scope of practice, which focuses on lactation assessment, education, and support—not medical diagnosis or treatment.
- Referring to licensed healthcare providers when concerns fall outside the lactation scope or when medical evaluation is needed.
- Maintaining appropriate documentation and following privacy and record‑keeping expectations consistent with New York State standards.
- Avoiding the use of protected titles (such as “nurse,” “midwife,” “therapist,” or “doctor”) unless separately licensed in New York State.
If at any time your situation requires medical evaluation, I will recommend that you contact your healthcare provider or seek urgent care when appropriate.
No Client Relationship Through Website Use
Using this website does not create a client‑provider relationship. A professional relationship is established only after:
- A consultation is scheduled
- Required intake and consent forms are completed
- You receive confirmation of your appointment
Until then, no clinical relationship exists.
Consultation Policies
Consultations may be offered in person or virtually, depending on location, availability, and appropriateness. Virtual care has limitations, and some situations may require in‑person assessment or referral to a medical provider.
Care plans are based on the information available at the time of your visit and may need adjustment as your situation changes. You are encouraged to stay in communication with your healthcare provider regarding any medical concerns.
Privacy & Confidentiality
Your privacy matters. Any personal information shared through forms, scheduling systems, or during consultations is kept confidential and used only for providing lactation support.
Electronic communication (email, text, virtual platforms) may carry privacy risks. By using these methods, you acknowledge and accept these risks.
